Hey, my name is Lea,
My name is Lea, I’m 19 years old, and I am one of four German volunteers serving here at Liebenzell USA for 11 months. We traveled to Liebenzell USA at the end of August 2024, so we’ve been living in the United States for over four months now.
We are part of a program called Impact, which focuses on three key areas: spirituality, social/cultural, and service. The Impact motto is simple yet powerful: “Get an impact. Make an impact.” Through the discipleship program at GIA (Global Impact Academy), weekly church services, young adult groups, and daily devotions, my teammates and I are growing in our faith, building community, and learning about American culture.
But Impact isn’t just about personal growth—it’s also about serving. Each of us contributes in practical ways, like helping in the kitchen, housekeeping, or maintenance. My main responsibility is housekeeping, where I work to prepare guest spaces, clean, and ensure everything is welcoming. Now, I’m excited to add something new to my role: sharing with you my personal experiences that I have had with God!
Why am I here?
To answer that, let’s go back 12 months to the beginning of 2024. Around that time, I had to make a decision about what to do after finishing high school, and I wasn’t sure what my next steps should be—an apprenticeship? A university course? The idea of a gap year abroad felt like a great option. And since I had decided to follow Jesus (I’ll share more about that another time), I thought this year would be a wonderful opportunity to consciously serve God. So, I started looking around and soon applied to Liebenzell Germany—and God opened the door for me to be here at Liebenzell USA.
It has been quite a journey so far, full of challenges, but also growth, and blessings, and I can’t wait to see what the rest of the year holds.
This is just the beginning of my story, and I hope you’ll join me as I share more about my faith journey and the lessons God is teaching me.
Stay tuned for my next article—there is much more to come!
