She participates in discipleship classes, engages in various opportunities for spiritual growth, social, and cultural activities, and serves within the Retreat Ministry—primarily in housekeeping. In a series of monthly blogs, Lea has kindly offered to share about her journey with Jesus.
Hey friend,
I wanted to share one more truly significant aspect of my journey with Jesus. It’s something essential that will always remain central in my walk with Him:
Fellowship with other people who love Jesus and want to serve Him.
Being a Christian is not a solo fight—it’s a team sport, if you will. The very first believers after Jesus’ resurrection understood this and lived out their faith in that way:
“Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.” (Acts 2:46–47)
Of course, faith is first and foremost a private and personal matter, because each one of us will one day stand individually before God. But at the same time, faith is also a matter of community.
In Christian fellowship, we can experience deep spiritual connection, we can worship and praise the Lord together, get to know Him more intimately, be encouraged and reminded of who we are in Christ—and be carried through difficult times with the support of our brothers and sisters in Christ.
I’ve had (and still have) the blessing of friends who draw me closer to Jesus. How precious that is! May you also be that kind of friend—someone through whom God can work to bring others closer to the Father’s heart.
With that in mind, I want to encourage you to join a Christian group (or even several). I can personally testify to the profound changes my youth group brought into my life. We human beings are made for community—and especially as Christians, we are called to live in fellowship with one another as the body of Christ!
Thanksgiving
Thank you for reading my articles! May they encourage you in your walk with Jesus. I look forward to the future and how Jesus will work in my life for His glory.
Yours, Lea
