Liebenzell USA has been living out the Great Commission for 83 years.

Founded in 1899, Liebenzell Mission began as a German mission agency, to support the gospel work that Hudson Taylor began in Asia through China Inland Mission. Initially focused on outreach to islands in the Asian Pacific, Liebenzell Mission continued to expand its reach across the 20th century, with Liebenzell USA being founded in 1941. Today Liebenzell USA supports 38 missionaries across 7 different mission fields around the world. Our goal remains the same as it was then: to reach the least, the last and the lost by mobilizing missionaries and their supporters to “go and make disciples of all nations.”

Our Purpose

The Joshua project estimates there are approximately 17,000 people groups on earth. Thanks to the amazing work of missionaries past, there are now only 963 people groups unreached. This could be the generation that sees the Gospel message reach every tribe, tongue and nation.

As a mission organization dedicated to serving God passionately and sharing Christ personally, locally, and worldwide, Liebenzell USA has heard the call to reach the least, the last and the lost.

OUR MOTIVATION

How can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” (Romans 10:14-15)

At Liebenzell, we believe that the Good News of Jesus Christ is a beneficial and life-changing force for every person, culture and nation. Our job is to live and pass on this truth by mobilizing and equipping missionaries and their senders to reach the ends of the earth.

Today there are over seven billion people in the world. Only one-third of the people on earth confess to be Christians, and many of those hunger for teaching and discipleship. Jesus Christ gave His Church the mandate to go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them and teaching them to obey everything He commanded (Matthew 28:18-20). Liebenzell is committed to this task. We labor to disciple the nations in 26 countries around the world.

We are compelled to world mission by the great love God has shown to us. He desires that all hear the Good News – and we want to be the feet to bring it!

OUR VALUES

  • Our authority is God’s Word, the Bible.
  • People matter to God.
  • Resources belong to God’s Kingdom.
  • Ministry depends upon God’s Spirit.
  • Unity is in God’s Son, Jesus Christ.
  • Integrity honors God’s character.
  • Partnership is vital in God’s work.
  • Excellence reflects God’s nature.

OUR FAITH

We believe that the whole Bible is inspired by the Holy Spirit and is the Divine authority and infallible rule for faith, life and doctrine.

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three Divine Persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, equal in nature, power and glory.

We believe in the Deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His shed blood as the only atonement for sin, in His bodily resurrection and ascension to the right hand of the Father and in His personal return in power and glory.

We believe in the Holy Spirit who convicts of sin, testifies of Christ, enables the believer to live a victorious life, and guides into all truth.

We believe that man was created in the image of God, but fell into sin and is in need of regeneration through faith in Jesus Christ.

We believe in the resurrection of the body. The believer will arise to eternal life, the unbeliever will arise to eternal condemnation.

We believe in the Spiritual unity of all believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.

We believe in the commission of the Risen Christ, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19,20).

We uphold the truths as stated in the Nicene and Apostles’ Creeds.

Our Partners

Liebenzell Mission International

In 1899 the organization was founded in Hamburg by the German pastor Heinrich Coerper, at the request of the already well-known China missionary James Hudson Taylor. After moving to the Black Forest, the missionary organization took the name of its new home in 1906 and became “Liebenzeller Mission.” We are the U.S. branch, founded in 1941.
