Emmaus Farm Restoration
Phase 2 - Chicken House Restoration
Join us in kick-starting our animal husbandry program in collaboration with the Global Impact Academy!
For Phase 2 the Chicken House needs renovations to be restored to its original purpose. Predator-proof doors and resurfaced floors are required to create a safe home for chickens, rabbits, and goats.
10 Students of the Global Impact Academy will be learning animal husbandry in 2023.
Phase 1 - Garden Beds
Phase 1 of our project includes fencing in a garden area and building 26 raised garden beds. Twenty 10’x10’ garden beds and six 10’x20’ garden beds were funded through the donations of generous supporters. Thank you for partnering with us!
Work on the fence is complete, and our staff and volunteers are assembling the 26 garden beds in preparation for the 2023 growing season. Our Global Impact Academy students will be receiving hands-on training using these gardens, and plots will also be available for community outreach.
History
Emmaus: a place of refuge
In 1945, the Liebenzell USA mission expanded its property by purchasing the farm and farmhouse adjacent to its mission headquarters on Schooley’s Mountain. They called the place Emmaus. This farm provided food for the mission, and the farmhouse became a place of refuge for German missionary families who came in from the mission fields.
