Liebenzell’s Retreat and Conference Center in Schooley’s Mountain, NJ offers several options for Journey missions.
Journey USA Exposure Internship (1-3 months) and Journey USA Launch Internship (3, 6, or 9-months) are open to individuals from the U.S. and around the world. They offer opportunities to serve, grow, and gain hands-on experience in ministry and hospitality while being part of a thriving retreat center.
About New Jersey Journey Programs
- Mid-July through Mid-December 2025
- Late-January through Late June 2025
Areas of Service:
Journey Exposure and Journey Launch participants will have the opportunity to develop professional and ministry-related skills in the following areas:
- Facilities & Maintenance: Assist with painting projects, landscaping, and general upkeep.
- Housekeeping & Hospitality: Prepare guest rooms, handle laundry, and support guest accommodations.
- Kitchen & Food Services: Cook, clean, and assist with meal preparation.
- Guest Services & Administration: Answer calls, prepare contracts, organize guest requests (e.g., sports equipment, amenities), support the low ropes course instructor or be a certified lifeguard.
- IT & Marketing: Support infrastructure, event planning, content creation, and ministry promotion.
- Ministry & Leadership Development: Assist the director with event planning, discipleship, and community engagement.
This is an incredible opportunity for students looking to grow spiritually, gain practical skills, and experience life while providing a space for guests to experience God or come to know Him in a dynamic retreat setting.

What We Offer:
To make this a rewarding and enriching missional experience we provide:
- Housing – Live on-site, with 1 – 4 roommates at our beautiful retreat center, for only a $50 per month utility fee.
- Meals Provided – Enjoy meals for most of your stay, especially during busy seasons, with the option to use our mission kitchen to make your own meals when meals are not being served on campus.
- Hands-on Ministry & Leadership Training – Learn directly from leaders who are following His leading in growing the ministry.
- Spiritual Growth & Mentorship – Be discipled by participating in weekly devotions.
- Opportunities for Exploration – Spend free time exploring nearby cities like New York, Philadelphia, Buffalo, or Washington, D.C. or enjoy the many parks in the area. May be able to use the mission vehicle (with some restrictions) or grab an uber to the nearest train station.
- Professional Development – Gain real-world experience in hospitality, administration, ministry, or general “business” operations.
- Vacation/Sick Time (for the Launch program) – Have two weeks to explore the area and a week of sick time is available.
- A Possible Stipend (for the Expose program) – At the end of the term, we would provide up to $500 per month to support your college or ministry goals.

What you need to do to participate:
1. Confirm through prayer and godly counsel that this is His call for you.
2. Complete a contact request form either in person or online at our website.
3. Commit to raising funds for airfare (US-based students), utility expenses ($50 per month); supplementary food and personal expenses.
4. Weekly schedule: at least 30 hours in service, 2 hours for mentorship, and 3 hours for participation in Global Impact Academy.
