About the Awa Benevolent Fund
The Awa Benevolent Fund helps meet the needs of the Awa community in Ecuador, such as helping a needy family get all the necessary school supplies they need at the beginning of the school year. The Bruce missionaries pray that the use of this fund will be a tangible way for the Awa to see and feel the love of the Lord through their presence as missionaries, and validate the goodness of the Awa church in their communities.
The Awa Benevolent Fund focuses on helping the needy among the Awa people, with a special focus on the widows and children. We see the principle over and over in God’s Word, that as a church and as individuals we are to help the needy. James 1: 27 says “Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction…” There are many other references for the need to love our neighbor, for example: 1 Corinthians 10:24, “Let no one seek his own good, but the good of his neighbor.” James 2: 15-16 also makes a strong case that our faith should lead to action and that action is evidenced by meeting the physical needs of those around us.
Thank you for your participation in this on-going need. As Paul wrote in Philippians 4:19, “And my God will supply every need of yours according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”
