Liebenzell USA Missionaries to Participate in the Fraternity for the Advancement of Missions XIII Assembly.

The annual assembly of the Fraternity for the Advancement of Missions (FAM Int’l) will take place near Guatemala City November 13-16, 2024. The assembly provides a way for continued communication and coordination throughout the Spanish-language world, with a specific focus on global mission and regional outreach.

Three Liebenzell missionaries will be attending the FAM Assembly and making presentations as members of FAM. Liebenzell associate missionary Gaspar Chabel will lead workshops on ministry in rural areas and Rod Fry, Middle America Codirector for Liebenzell, will discuss ministry in urban areas. Fernando Amezcua, who serves as President of FAM International, will lead a session on reaching unreached people groups principally located in Mexico, as well as many different language groups in Mexico without the Scriptures in their language. There will also be sessions on ways to work together through short-term teams and specific areas of ministry expertise, as well as how to support missionaries currently on the field from different countries. Rev. Christopher Matthews, General Director of Liebenzell USA, will give three morning devotions based on I Corinthians 9 about the importance of being committed and creative in ministry.

According to Rod Fry, “The assembly provides a platform for partnering mission agencies. They are invited to come and rub shoulders with our Latin colleagues and present projects and missionary vision. At the end of the week, we put action to our words and work with a nearby ministry in doing outreach and presenting a mission workshop. This year we’ll be working with a Guatemalan NGO entitled One Way Community, doing a reading glasses donation event and sharing the gospel through visual means such as the EvangeCube and a cross puzzle.”

Liebenzell USA missionaries Steve and Pamela English are hosting the event at their retreat center La Senda in Sumpango, north of Guatemala City.
